At Inheems Kollectief Suriname (IkSur), we are driven by a commitment to empower Indigenous communities in Suriname. Our mission and vision are rooted in the belief that economic independence and cultural preservation go hand-in-hand. By combining traditional knowledge with modern innovations, we aim to create opportunities that elevate Indigenous communities, ensuring they thrive while staying true to their roots.
Distance learning can serve as an effective after-school program designed specifically to provide children with a flexible digital platform to learn and develop essential digital skills. This innovative approach not only enhances their educational experience but also empowers them to navigate and thrive in an increasingly digital world.

In collaboration with the ASTA FAO Team, we offer assistance and consultation to indigenous communities and farmers. This project aims to promote natural flower induction and enhance pineapple production in villages, as well as facilitate the export of pineapples.

Launched by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and supported by a guarantee fund, it ensures that indigenous and maroon communities can confidently access opportunities for economic growth. We are currently in a crucial pilot phase of preparing the agroforestry project specifically aimed at supporting indigenous communities and enhancing fish farming practices. The UN Secretary General made a historic visit to Suriname, and IkSur was truly honored to host this important figure. During his visit to the Village of Piere Kondre Kumbasi, he was warmly greeted by the villagers as well as the chief of the community. The encounter featured a thoroughly engaging conversation that was inspired by both sides, fostering a deeper understanding and connection. This meaningful exchange has left a lasting friendship with the indigenous communities, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and mutual respect.
